Tips for designing your about page
This information is for therapists who are creating or updating their website about page.
Broadly speaking an About page is where visitors to a website go to find out information about a company, organization, or individual. It's an opportunity to tell visitors your brand's story, share your vision or mission, introduce team members, and outline your history and achievements.
Visitors to a therapist's website are looking to check the therapist has the appropriate qualifications. They are probably also looking to see if they think they would feel comfortable working with them.
A therapist about page should include:
Your name
What drives you
Your experience
Any specialities you have
Your credentials or accreditations
Your Picture
I would recommend keeping this page as ‘evergreen’ as possible so it doesn’t go out of date. For example, this means not including a running list of all your CPD courses.
If you are on an accredited register, linking to this is important. You might like to include a sentence or two explaining what the requirements of being on this list are. For example, ‘this accreditation is renewed every year when I meet the CPD, insurance and supervision requirements set out by my governing body.’
